Ham Wharf Mooring Co-operative provides affordable, secure and sustainable residential moorings for a diverse community, and strives to preserve the natural environment and history of the River Brent together.
In the 1980s a group of boaters came across a stretch of water in Brentford west London that seemed a good place to moor long term. They called it Ham Wharf. Although access wasn't great, it seemed to be somewhat uncharted and not at the mercy of any surveillance, thus any fees. Residential moorings in any city are very difficult to come
In the 1980s a group of boaters came across a stretch of water in Brentford west London that seemed a good place to moor long term. They called it Ham Wharf. Although access wasn't great, it seemed to be somewhat uncharted and not at the mercy of any surveillance, thus any fees. Residential moorings in any city are very difficult to come by. Over time more boats started to moor, and a resident’s group was formed.
We come together regularly both socially and formally, to decide how to best maintain and progress our community. As we all desire to live a quiet boat dwelling life amid the beauty and nature that surrounds us. This takes work and organisation as we strive to share our experiences with other co operative mooring communities.
We love to meet like minded people, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
